[Guide Cat’s Field Notes] Airport Pickup Support

service

What is the “true support” that begins the moment you arrive at the airport?

Hello, I am Val, the Lotus Way Guide Cat.

Today, I interviewed the team about Lotus Way’s “Airport Pickup Support.” To be honest, it was on a completely different level than the simple “just going to pick someone up” that I had imagined.

Support becomes necessary from the very moment one steps off the plane. I will introduce the reasons why, along with insights from the field.

🌏 “First time in Japan” is harder than you might imagine

The first thing that surprised me was the fact that “many people cannot travel from the airport to their destination on their own.”

Particularly in regions such as Nepal, it is apparently not uncommon for people to have:

  • Never ridden a train
  • Never seen an automatic ticket gate
  • No idea how to use a vending machine

This does not appear to be uncommon.

I am a cat, so I cannot use automatic ticket gates anyway, but if “tapping a card” is a first-time life experience, it is natural to feel anxious.

🛬 The moment you arrive at the airport, you can no longer “move alone”

In their home country, sending agencies help them board the plane. However, the moment they arrive in Japan, they are completely on their own.

  • Language barriers
  • Mobile data is not yet available
  • They do not know where to go

All of this in a massive airport. Even I would curl my tail in fear.

According to the staff, airport pickup begins with “providing a sense of security.”

🚆 The Toughest Part of the Journey: A Real “Almost‑Got‑Off” Incident

A common route is: Airport → Tokyo Station → Shinkansen → Local Station.

However, this is where problems often occur.

“Please do not get off at this station.” “Please stay on until XX Station.”

Even when we explained this, there have been actual cases where someone was so anxious that they nearly got off midway.

The reason is simple:

  • No Wi-Fi
  • No means of communication
  • Language barriers
  • General feelings of helplessness

Because that is the situation.

If I were taken to a station I didn’t know, I would probably get off halfway too.

🚉 The role of Lotus Way: Ensuring boarding and successful handovers

This is the most important point of this interview.

The Lotus Way style is to provide support from the airport to the Shinkansen boarding area and then follow up to ensure a successful hand-off to the receiving staff at the destination station.

In other words,

  • Guiding them to the Shinkansen platform
  • Assisting with tickets and boarding procedures
  • Confirming the correct train and car number
  • Providing information on the arrival station
  • Coordinating with the receiving party and confirming arrival

We have put in place a system that enables you to board without hesitation and get off without hesitation.

They have established a solid safety net to prevent anyone from getting lost along the way.

🧭 Companies also have a “responsibility for safe delivery”

When individuals come to Japan for employment, the receiving company has an obligation to deliver the individual safely to the workplace.

Therefore, support from the airport to the destination is a crucial process for the company as well.

Lotus Way takes on part of that responsibility, with experienced staff providing reliable support for boarding and handovers.

🌿 Strengths of Lotus Way as observed by the Guide Cat

During the interview, these are the three points I found particularly impressive:

  • A deep understanding of the anxiety felt immediately after arrival
  • Thorough follow-up until boarding the Shinkansen
  • The peace of mind provided by overseeing the handover at the destination station

The philosophy of “never letting the sense of security break until the destination is reached,” rather than “ending once they arrive at the airport,” is thoroughly implemented.

✨ Airport pickup is the “first guidepost”

What I learned from this interview is that airport pickup support is not just a simple transportation service.

In a new country, with unfamiliar transportation and a language barrier, it is the first guidepost to help people start their lives in Japan with peace of mind.

To firmly support that first step, Lotus Way continues to welcome those starting new lives at the airport today.

I, Val the Guide Cat, will also be quietly watching over them.
